USA: A group of Californian businessmen buy 30 minutes of primetime on the NBC television network and hand it to an actor whose career is in the doldrums, Ronald ‘Dutch’ Reagan, to read a pro-Goldwater speech. He says “We have come down to a time for choosing. Either we accept the responsibilities for our own destinies, or we abandon the American Revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan ourselves.”
